“For the righteous LORD loves righteousness” (Psalm 11:7).
I left you yesterday with seventeen-year-old Dusty calling her dad amid her sobs to come and pick her up. She was left by her friends at Carroll and Smith Court. It seems that Connie persuaded the other girls that no one at the convenience store would notice if a few snack items were snuck out of the store. Dusty had pleaded with them. “We don’t need to steal anything. I have money with me. I’ll buy any snack things you want. Don’t do something stupid.” They had laughed at her and assured her that they also had money. “It’s the thrill of it. It’s a sport to see if we can pull it off,” Connie said with a sudden hardness in her voice. Others started making fun of Dusty, and then it suddenly changed. Charlene pulled her car over quickly and said, “Get out. Get out, Miss Sunday School little girl!” And with that Dusty was on a dark street corner in the rain calling her parents. If you read the Daily Prescription yesterday, Dusty’s mom and dad had passed police officers who had stopped the carload of girls. The police were parked just around the corner from the convenience store when the clerk witnessed the burglary. Soon Dusty was in the car with her parents. Mom and Dad were absolutely livid that her so-called friends would do such a thing to their daughter and the store. But they were also very thankful that Dusty had done the righteous thing.
For today: Sooner or later you will be called upon to choose to do the right thing. Remember that the righteous Lord loves righteousness.
