I smile, even laugh a little every time I think about this. First, let me share the verse I’m thinking about.
“I am the vine, you are the branches” (John 15:5).
I realize that I am not much of a farmer.
As a youngster, my dear Karen dreamed of marrying a farmer who not only had crops but lots of animals, I mean lots! How very far removed from her early childhood dreams did the Lord bring her! Like I said, I am not much of a farmer. This I do know, however! The vine is the life-giver. The branch is the fruit-displayer.
Though you can see that while my insight is obvious and known by everyone already, it is nevertheless a great blessing to those of us who know the Lord as our Savior. He gives us life and produces the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) that will be displayed in our lives. So wherever you go, whatever you do, whoever you meet today, display His fruitfulness, dear fellow branch. It will be your great privilege!
Here’s what I’m thinking today. As we ask the Lord to produce His fruit in our lives, it will draw attention away from ourselves and help others to focus on Him, the vine Who gives life.
