“Her Tears Were Precious To Me”
An Update on my Karen for February 5th, 2017
There is seldom a time that Karen feels well. The battle in which she is engaged in fighting this cancer has taken quite a toll. We believe that she is heading toward needing another paracentesis in which the abdominal region is drained of this cancerous fluid. The cough at times is really difficult and usually it is very hard for her to sleep. I say all this to provide the background of my note of praise today.
You might remember from several weeks ago that Karen really, really wanted to do two things. First, she really wanted to go to one of her grandson Hunter’s basketball games. Well friends I am happy to tell you that on Friday afternoon, she was able to go to a home game! Though her breath is limited, she was able to cheer loud enough for me to hear her (of course I was sitting right next to her on courtside). Once when an opponent fouled Hunter, she was ready to go right out there and warn him not to touch her grandson again! Fortunately it doesn’t take much energy to hold her back these days! That was the first thing she wanted to do.
The second thing is something that she really, really, really wanted to do. While she wanted to see Hunter play basketball, she greatly desired to be well enough to go back to the morning service again. Friday night into Saturday was terrible for her. She had a rough night. But I am so happy to tell you that last night was better and this morning I had the supreme privilege of taking my sweetheart to church. The choir began the service with the majestic hymn, “How Great Thou Art.” It was truly moving. I glanced at her and she was moved to tears. How great is the Lord indeed and what a privilege to be worshipping in person and not on live stream. While we are thankful for live stream, it does not take the place of worshipping in person
So you can well believe that this husband has a heart that is filled with praise to the Lord. You have played a great role in this happening because so many have faithfully prayed that these two things would happen. Many are also praying for the rash to appear. This has not taken place as yet. But we do thank you for praying. Oh how much we appreciate our dear friends.
“Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and show these great and mighty things which thou knowest not” (Jeremiah 33:3).
