“It’s Because I am your Mother, and the Answer is Still No!”

Awkward! Pastor turned the corner in the hallway in the church just in time to see it. Yes sir, it was a situation that was a bigger event than, let’s see, bigger than most anything he had witnessed in quite some time! Louise and her sixteen-year-old son, Henry Michael. There it was right before Pastor’s eyes. Mama Louise had a hold on her son’s shirt as the drama unfolded. At first Pastor wished he could disappear, but soon he nearly broke out in applause. Louise, standing barely five foot looking up at her six-foot-two-inch son, saying in a voice that could marshal armies, “Henry Michael. I don’t care what every other boy does. You are my boy. I loved you long before you were born. I prayed for you before I knew that you were coming to me. I would lay my life down this very moment because I love you with all my heart. And though you may be very angry at me, because I am your Mother, and because I care so very deeply about your safety, the answer is still NO.” Without missing a beat, she turned to her Pastor and said, “Hello, my Pastor. Congratulate me! I just won the “Meanest Mother in the World Award,” and you were right here to see it! The day finally came when Henry Michael thanked his mother. It wouldn’t be right away, but it did eventually come. Have you ever won the “Meanest Mother in the World Award”?
