“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28).

I left you with a cliff hanger yesterday. Frank and his young wife were driving to the hospital as quickly as they safely could. Jackie’s labor pains had suddenly and dramatically come hard and very quickly. This dear young couple was terrified as they hurried along. Suddenly their car’s radiator hose blew, and of course, they had to pull over. Steam was pouring from under the hood.

“This couldn’t happen at a worse time,” Frank moaned. They were in a desperate situation. “Lord, please help. You said that ‘All things work together for good to them that love God,’ and we do love You. What are we going to do?” Frank asked the Lord in desperation. Before he could finish praying, a uniformed police officer was tapping on his window! Within a moment Frank and Jackie were in the back of the police car speeding onto the expressway. The sergeant  activated the emergency lights and siren. “Headquarters, car Charlie seven,” the police office radioed.

“Car Charlie Seven,” dispatch responded.

“Charlie Seven has two passengers. No time to wait for rescue. We are headed to Mercy Hospital. Code three, very active labor. Alert ER we will be there in about than 10 minutes. Actually headquarters, I have three passengers, and the third is coming soon.”

Dispatch calmly  responded, “Charlie Seven, code three. Three passengers, and one is coming soon.” Two minutes later dispatch radioed….well, how about if I finish the story tomorrow?

For today: Even in those times we think things look terrible, our Sovereign God works all things together for good. Think of how many times He has worked faithfully in your life. We can trust Him today.
