One of the first set of verses I ever learned was, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
I am really thinking about a word that impacts our lives. It is the word “acknowledge.” It is the Hebrew word yada (yaw-DAH) which means “to learn to know, to recognize, confess and consider.” It quite literally includes “to know or become well acquainted with a person.”
You have met folks who attend church sometimes and then live the rest of their week as if the Lord doesn’t exist. Sadly, they treat the Lord as if He is some kind of fire escape from hell, but He has little of their time, attention, or affection during the week. Such an attitude is truly not trusting in the Lord wholeheartedly. It certainly is not recognizing Him and considering Him in all their ways.
You and I want to demonstrate the reality of the LORD in our daily lives Monday through Saturday as well as Sunday! In all our ways, we are the LORD’s people who by faith are walking with Him. It is He Who is guiding our lives. Proverbs 3:5-6 are not only great verses to memorize; these great truths are wonderful blessings to be lived out.
