“Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not” (Ecclesiastes 12:1).
Pastor and Mrs. Kenward and their grandchildren were spending time together. It had been an enjoyable day as they enjoyed going to the zoo and eating lunch in the rainforest. Just as their lunch was concluding, one of their grandsons said, “Grandpa, you are lucky.”
Glancing at his wife with a smile, he whispered to her, “I surely am!” She slapped his leg under the table. But quickly he looked back at his young grandson and said, “Jackie, I would say that I am a blessed man. I don’t believe in luck. The Lord guides our lives and cares for us. A long time ago I promised the Lord I would serve Him and with His help, I would obey Him. He has been very good to me. So you see, my life is not guided by luck. It is guided by the Lord. But I am curious. Why do you think that I am so lucky?”
Wait until tomorrow when you hear what seven-year-old Jackie told his grandpa. Grandma almost choked on her diet soft drink!
For today: Aren’t you glad that our lives are not guided by luck? As believers, we are guided by the Lord.
