“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the Word of God, which lives and abides for ever” (1 Peter 1:23).
Across the desk from Pastor Kenward sat a young man who seemed to like to debate. “Dick, I am more than pleased to try and answer your questions about what the Bible teaches about salvation. I have taken you through several verses so that you can see that this thing of being born again is not my idea. It is what the Bible teaches. Again, I am happy to answer your questions, but I am not going debate you. You asked for an appointment, and I am so delighted that you came in. However, this isn’t a debate,” the Pastor said with both kindness and conviction. Pastor Kenward continued, “You have told me all the reasons that you think that you can be good enough to get to Heaven on your own. You can’t think of any Scripture verse that teaches this. I have shown you from the Bible how you can clearly know the Lord. Now it is up to you to decide which way your life is going to go. You are making a decision that will affect eternity.” It was a somber moment. Gladly, it wasn’t long before Dick made that decision to trust Christ. Have you made the same decision?
For today: Aren’t you glad that we can know Christ? Don’t you wish everyone did?
