“Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And there was great joy in that city” (Acts 8:5, 8).
What a powerful statement. Philip preached Christ in the city of Samaria. He broke through the very strong prejudices of his day and made known in a clear and powerful way that Christ’s offer of forgiveness and salvation is available to people of every ethnicity. The city of Samaria needed something more than education. They needed something more than social reformation. They needed salvation. Nothing was more important than this. No wonder there was joy in the city. It’s the same message needed in your neighborhood! May you and I be the proclaimers of Christ, just like Philip.
For today: The Lord Jesus truly can bring joy to individuals as well as the entire city.
