“Unto Thee, O LORD, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in Thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me” (Psalm 25:1-2).
Do you remember singing this little chorus? It was very popular a long time ago. I think the first time I heard it was in the chapel at Bethany Baptist Camp in Sinclairville, New York. The camp kids loved it as much as I did. They sang with enthusiasm and high levels of energy. I have thought about those days, and it really struck me. Even though the camp children believed and embraced this little chorus taken squarely from God’s Word, I wonder if they had any idea of how they would need to embrace this truth throughout their lives? It is one thing to sing this chorus as a camper with very few cares in this world. It is another to sing it and to cherish it as an adult who faces significant pressure and stressful situations. He is still the same Lord of Whom we sang. We still need to trust in Him and ask Him to help us in the midst of troublesome situations.
For today: Probably your life is not carefree nor is it without painful situations. You really can lift up your soul to Him today and trust Him fully. Really! You can.
