Hotheaded and angry is the only way this couple could be described.
Let me share the verse for today and then a little story about Mark and Chelsea. I’m pretty sure no one would recognize them, but I’ve changed their names just to be on the safe side. Think of what the Scripture has to say to them and us as well.
“Be angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: neither give place to the devil” (Ephesians 4:26-27).
Mark and his wife Chelsea were hotheaded and explosive people. The pastor who married them warned the young couple about the changes that were ahead and the necessary adjustments that would be helpful. Little did this young couple know how much they needed to heed the words of the pastor. It was not uncommon for them to go for days without talking. When they did start talking again, long periods of arguments took place.
Chelsea was reading her Bible one day when she came to the passage that we have read in our Daily Prescription. She was really convicted by the Holy Spirit and went to her husband with her Bible in hand and an apology for the way she had been acting. Mark also was gripped with conviction, and that was the day this young couple determined not to give place to the devil any longer and to begin really working on not letting the sun go down upon their wrath. They didn’t change overnight, but it was a starting point.
Here’s a closing thought for today The Bible warns you to be angry for the right reason, the right amount and the right duration. Don’t give place to the devil. How will this impact your life today?
