“Forasmuch as there is none like unto Thee, O LORD; Thou art great, and Thy name is great in might. Who would not fear Thee, O King of nations?” (Jeremiah 10:6-7).
Jeremiah the prophet is laying out the case that the Lord is the true and living God and that the idols of the nations are nothing. These idols are not to be trusted. They are not to be loved. They are not to be worshipped. The Lord is far more wonderful than anyone can ever begin to imagine.
Scott spoke tenderly to his new pastor one Sunday morning. “Pastor, I want to thank you for being so patient with me. I thought I was good enough for Heaven. Surely God would accept me. I never murdered anyone. I never committed adultery. I even gave money to charitable organizations. Then you introduced me to the one way of genuine salvation, and I am discovering how great the Lord really is. Thank you so much, Pastor.”
How about you? Are you learning more of the Lord’s greatness, and does this lead you to fear Him more and more? That’s what should be happening! Our God is a great God. He is worthy of our adoration and praise. That’s what we should be doing today.
