I have a wonderfully precious verse for us to think about today.
“Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law” (Romans 3:28).
It was an unusual and somewhat uncomfortable conversation that day. Lorna was absolutely sweet and gentle, but she didn’t back down when that man made fun of her for reading her Bible.
“Why would you waste your time on such old-fashioned fairy tales?” he growled with a sarcastic tone in his voice. Lorna was sitting across the aisle from him in the cabin of a plane, traveling home from visiting her family. As she had a couple of hours in the air, she had quietly pulled her New Testament from her purse and was enjoying reading God’s Word. The rude traveler told Lorna that he was sure that he was good enough. “I’ll take my chances that God will let me in Heaven because I never killed anyone and never committed adultery.” Lorna quietly said, “Sir, that is up to you, but I am convinced that the Bible is God’s Word, and the only justification comes by faith in Him.” It was quite the conversation at 32,000 feet in the air.
For today: How about you? Are you trusting in your good works or are you trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ?
