“Him being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain; Whom God hath raised up” (Acts 2:23-24).
“The cross of Christ was not an accident,” the professor said to the packed classroom. Theology IV was the subject being taught to the residents of the four year Bible college. “We finite beings are peering into the Infinite and His eternal decree. Before all of creation, the Triune God decreed the procedure of redemption. That’s why He’s called ‘The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world’ in Revelation 13:8. That means that before He created us, He decided to provide the only way to redeem us through His death and resurrection.” With that the professor looked at his watch and said, “We’re out of time. But probably if you did ask questions, I wouldn’t be able to answer them anyhow. Now go about your day and thank the Lord often for the Lord’s death and resurrection! Class dismissed.”
For today: There’s nothing accidental about the Lord’s death and resurrection. It was for you!
