Sometimes you just have to smile at the outdated email and postal mail that comes along the way. Recently I received an advertisement addressed to my son, Bill. In big bold letters it read, “BILL…NOW IS THE TIME TO UPDATE THOSE WINDOWS ON YOUR HOUSE!”
My son Billy has been Home with the Lord since 2013. I’m pretty sure he doesn’t need new windows on his house! I really don’t know how that particular window sales company even got his name. He’s never lived at my current address. However, in some unexplainable way to me, Bill had the chance of a lifetime. He could get one “free” window when purchasing two of the “best windows money could buy.”
I miss my son, William Edward (Billy).
I smile at this offer to purchase new windows.
I shake my head at the out-of-date marketing.
All of this leads me to celebrate with you that the Lord is never out of date!
He is eternal. “The eternal God is thy refuge…” (Deuteronomy 33:27).
His Word is settled. “Forever O LORD, Thy Word is settled in Heaven” (Psalm 119:89).
His Word is right up-to-date and dependable. “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).
Join me as we pick up the Scriptures reading, believing, embracing what the Lord tells us.
