“Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another” (Ephesians 4:25).
Danny said to his boss, “I’m sorry, sir. I’m so sick that I just can’t come in today. Besides, you wouldn’t want me handling food, and you certainly wouldn’t want me around the rest of the crew. I’m so sick that I can’t walk across the floor.” The boss took a deep breath and replied, “All right, Dan. You certainly can’t help being sick. We’ll miss you today and hope you will be better soon,” and with that he hung up the phone. Dan burst out laughing and shouted to his college roommates, “I’m ready! Let’s hit the trails!” and out they headed on their bikes. A few minutes later Danny’s boss, Michael, left the diner to run some errands. Guess who he spotted? Right ahead of him was the “I’m-too-sick-to-walk-across-the-floor-Danny” who was laughing and riding his bike along with two other guys from college! The next day would be a great lesson in truthfulness for Danny. It’s a great lesson for all of us. We need to always put away lying. More about this tomorrow.
For today: Lord, please help us to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15) always!
