“God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that He is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, seeing He giveth to all life, and breath, and all things” (Acts 17:24-25).
Yesterday I shared with you how Pastor Kenward returned to the pulpit ministry after his back surgery. He spoke to the church family about how those who have breath must be praising the Lord according to Psalm 150:6.
Frankly he had been thinking a lot about breathing. He chuckled as he and his wife talked about his recent coming out of the effects of anesthesia. He remembered hearing the sound of the nurse’s voice in the recovery unit, but it sounded like she was a block away as she called, “Mr. Kenward, breathe deeply. Mr. Kenward, breathe deeply now. BREATHE!”
At that he awakened a little more and realized that she meant business! As he became more awake and alert, he was reminded several more times to breathe. Eventually his thoughts went to the day that Paul was on Mars’ Hill and saw the emptiness and futility of the worship of the pagans. Paul directed them to the true and living God Who gives life and breath to all. Better yet, He also gives salvation to those who call on Him (Acts 17:31-34).
Think with me about this today: I’m glad that the Lord gives breath to all. I am especially glad that He is the source of life and salvation to those who believe.
