“In Whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Ephesians 1:7).
Yesterday we read about Danny who lied to his boss. Claiming to be sick, Danny assured his boss that he couldn’t even walk across the floor because he was so sick. Thirty minutes later the boss, who was on some errands, spotted Danny and his friends bicycling, laughing, and talking. Now it is the next day, and Danny is reporting to the diner for work. His boss, Michael, asks him to stop in the office. “Dan, please don’t ever lie to me. I can stand any kind of mistake, but I cannot have people working for me that I cannot trust. Yesterday I spotted you and your friends bicycling on West Herriman Shoreway. You told me you were so sick you couldn’t walk across the floor. I ought to fire you,” he said quietly. Dan hung his head in shame. Before he could speak, Michael continued, “Dan, I am not going to fire you this time. There’s a verse in the Bible I want to share with you. Ephesians 1:7 tells us about redemption and the riches of His grace. I am the recipient of those riches and grace. Sometime when you are ready, I will tell you more about it. Don’t ever lie to me again, Dan.” With that Danny, through his tears, could only whisper, “I’m so sorry. Thank you, Mr. Johns. Thank you.” I don’t know about you, but I am so thankful for the riches of His grace.
For today: How has the “riches of His grace” worked out in your life?
