“I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way” (Psalm 101:2).
King David had a beautiful goal in his life. No, he didn’t always live up to it. Neither have I. But what a beautiful goal when we understand his choice of words. Think about the word “behave” as well as the word “perfect.” The word “behave” is sakal (pronounced saw-KAL) and has the idea of “acting carefully or circumspectly.” When he wrote of the “perfect” way of living, he used the word tamiym (pronounced taw-MEEN) to paint the picture of “completeness, healthful, and integrity.” So David purposed that he wanted to live with caution and care that his lifestyle would be wholesome and filled with integrity. I really need this today. How about you?
For today: Lord, please help me behave in just the same way David wished to live as well.
