“Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch. For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith” (Acts 11:22, 24).
What a great testimony Barnabas had among the churches. He became known as the man who truly encouraged people with his words and his actions. Jane Anne was just such a person. It was incredible how she often encouraged people. She wrote notes, sent emails, often thanked people for their service, and shared with those who had needs. One of the ladies was speaking about Jane Anne. She said, “We often call her our Barnabas in a skirt. She is such an encourager.” So, whether you are a man or a lady, you have the opportunity to follow in the way of being a Barnabas in your surroundings today.
For today: Help me not to pull others down, dear Lord. Rather, let me lift them up and be an encouragement.
