I’ve always loved the mountains. I agree with my grandmother about this. But first, think about what Moses said.
“LORD, Thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever Thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art God” (Psalm 90:1, 2)
On the worst of days, God, as always, remains faithful. Psalm 90 is ascribed to Moses and referred to as his prayer. Moses looked at the mountains and considered them to be a great teacher. When he faced severe problems, he knew that he belonged to and trusted in the God Who existed from eternity past, long before He created that mountain!
My grandmother was from a place that was surrounded by mountains. When she moved with her family to the part of the Western New York that was very flat, she often spoke to me even when I was a youngster of those mountains “back home.” What wonderful memories I have of being reminded by my grandmother that “Before those mountains were formed, God is the everlasting God”!
Friends, here is the good news. You don’t need mountains nearby to remember Who God is, what He is doing, and how He can be trusted.
Take this with you today: What wonderful blessings come when one belongs to the Lord and takes a good lesson from the mountains and trust the One Who made them.
