“Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).
The Lord Jesus is talking to the disciples about His departure. They are nearly distraught when He tells them that He is leaving them with peace. Those terrible moments before the cross were anything but peaceful. But because of His death and glorious resurrection, we believers can have a joyous peace that whispers to us in the darkest and deepest trial, “Don’t be troubled, and don’t be afraid.” This doesn’t mean that we are emotionless. It does mean that we must remember that He is bigger than any situation.
For today: I need to quiet down and look up to Him that has everything under control.
