“But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles” (Acts 9:27).
Saul, who would become Paul, was looked upon with doubt and fear by the early disciples. The one who went to the fullest measure of his strength to destroy the early church now claims to be one of them. Many doubted and wanted nothing to do with him. Some may have thought it was a clever plot to find out where the believers were so he could arrest them. It is a good thing there was a Barnabas who took Saul under his arm and stood by him. Have you ever taken the opportunity to reach out to the new person in your class, small group or church? You haven’t? Well, why not?
For today: While still being wise and cautious, be a Barnabas to someone today.
