“Love suffers long and is kind” (1 Corinthians 13:4).
“I am such a blessed man. Not only has the Lord been very kind to me,” Jerry said, “but the Lord has brought into my life people that are patient and kind. There are too many to mention all of them, but as I think back, there is my elementary teacher, Mrs. K., who knew that I honestly struggled with math. There was the high school history teacher, Mr. S., who knew that I was not an athlete. There was the man named Don who sang in our wedding and my ordination service. And now you, my dear nurse, who is caring for me today. You are caring for me as if I were your grandfather!” and with that they both laughed. It is interesting that Jerry should speak of the kindness and patience of others. He himself is the most patient and kind person you could ever meet. The Lord Jesus wants to work in our lives as well. The loving and patient Lord wants to produce this in us so that the change He has made in our lives will be seen clearly.
For today: If someone were reminiscing about patient and kind folks they know, do you suppose your name and mine would come up in the conversation?
