“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world” (Matthew 28:19-20).
This is commonly called the Great Commission. While the English text says, “Go ye,” it is better to understand it as the Lord saying, “As you are already going, make disciples of all nations.” A disciple is one who follows his or her Master, obeys the Master’s teaching, and patterns his or her life after the example of the Master. What a great task the Lord Jesus sets before us! We must be involved in evangelism as well as discipleship. What a great privilege to introduce people to the Lord Jesus Christ. Then we must teach them to become followers of the Lord Jesus. What a great task indeed! How will the Lord use you today?
For today: I want to be a good disciple. How about you?
