“For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the Most High he shall not be moved” (Psalm 21:7).
From a human perspective, King David lived in grave danger most of his life. As a shepherd he faced very dark nights and very wild animals as he watched over his flock. During his time with King Saul, he was hated and hunted. His life was constantly in jeopardy. As the king, he surely experienced enemies within and without his household. How beautifully David declares his trust in the Lord and his acknowledgement of his need of the Most High’s mercy. Such things kept David from being shaken and overthrown.
For today: Whatever you are experiencing today, this same Lord with the same wonderful supply of mercy is available to you. Be encouraged, dear believer. Trust Him.
