“To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 1:7).
“Now, that verse stops me in my tracks,” Cliff said to his co-workers, Tim and Jack. “I remember way back before I knew the Lord in a personal, saving way. I really didn’t understand what the word ‘saint’ even meant. I grew up in a church where only a very few people who were dead were thought to be saints. Jack, do remember my reaction after you guided me in asking the Lord to be my Savior when you shook my hand and called me a saint?” The men laughed, and Jack slapped him on the shoulder. “I sure do,” he said. “We both were crying so hard because we were so happy. When I told you that God now called you a saint, you burst out laughing.” What a great lesson it was for Cliff. Every person that has trusted the Lord Jesus to be his or her Savior is declared positionally in Christ to be a “holy one, dedicated to God.” What an amazing privilege you and I have today to live for the Lord! We’ll think more about this tomorrow.
For today: In position we believers are called to be saints. Now in our daily experience may we live a holy life with the Lord’s help.
