“God thunders marvelously with his voice; great things doeth He, which we cannot comprehend. For He says to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of His strength” (Job 37:5-6).
Elihu is speaking about the Lord and His great power in creation. He speaks of God being mighty and illustrates this in the previous chapter by speaking of the greatness of God in the weather systems (36:26-29). I know beyond any shadow of a doubt that Charles Darwin does not believe in evolution any longer! How great is our God, and how incredible are the works of His wisdom and understanding. I have always enjoyed keeping track of the weather, especially when a major system is moving in. All of my children laugh at me and tease me because of my weather-related interests. I especially love to see what God can do. With the best meteorological instruments in the history of time, and with the latest and greatest systems for projecting weather forecasts, sometimes God surprises everyone by doing just the opposite. Do you remember when the forecast called for nearly a foot of snow and perhaps only an inch fell? Or do you remember the time when the weather forecasters indicated that this would not be a major snowstorm, and it turned out to be near blizzard-like conditions? Our great God sometimes reveals His power through the weather systems that He alone controls. Aren’t you glad that you belong to Him?
For today: The God Who controls the weather holds His children in His hands. What a great place to be!
