“Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments” (Psalm 112:1).
I left you yesterday in Pastor Kenward’s counseling center as he was in between appointments. He whispered to the Lord asking how he was going to break through to the next couple that he would see that afternoon. Both were stubborn, resistant to the Word, and needed an object lesson to help them see where they needed to be.
Just then, Pastor Kenward looked up and saw a book of theology written by his beloved professor, Dr. Floyd Barackman. “That’s it!” he said right out loud. Within a few moments his secretary Marie brought the couple in. She hugged the lady and said, “Now listen to what pastor says. You’ll be glad you did.” Looking right at the man, in her wonderful way she said, “And you, too. Do you hear me?”
Soon Pastor Kenward discovered that neither of them had read any of the assigned verses he had given them. Stepping to the bookshelf, he reached for the theology book. “I know the author. I know him personally. I so highly respected him that I never wanted to dishonor him. I have learned the joy of putting into practice what he wrote. But far better,” (and he stretched out his Bible toward them), “yes, far better is knowing the Author of this Book and putting into practice what He tells us.” It was a turning point in their counseling. Have you invested time in the Word today?
For today: When it comes to the Bible, do you know the Author and are you putting into practice what He says? It’s the only way to blessings and delight.
