“He sent redemption unto His people: He hath commanded His covenant for ever: holy and reverend is His name” (Psalm 111:9).
“May I ask you a question?” asked the lady who was new to the congregation. The pastor assured her that she could ask anything. Teasing just a little he quickly added, “Ask anything. I might not know the answer, so I might have to spin you a tale!”
They both laughed, and this put her at ease. “Pastor, I know that I am new here, and this might be a silly question,” she continued. “But you never go by the title ‘Reverend.’ My former pastor insisted on it. You never do. Why is this?”
Her new pastor shared Psalm 111:9 with her and responded by saying, “I was ordained in 1973, but with the Lord Himself being called holy and reverend, I just prefer to be called ‘pastor’ rather than ‘reverend.’”
Aren’t you glad to belong to the awesome LORD Who is holy and Whose name is Reverend?
For today: Whatever comes into our lives today, nothing can change the fact of Who our God is and what His blessed name is! This is a great blessing to me today. How about you?
