Posting # 250 “Walking with the Lord in the Changing Seasons”
February 8th, 2023
Welcome to the new format of Karen’s Notes. Frequently I will be changing the format so that it does not become the same old thing every week.
Something I want you to know about Karen.
Those who have known Karen over the years can testify that she really loved the ever-changing seasons. Spring was her favorite, but she loved the changes that each season brought. During her journey with cancer, she often whispered to me about what the Lord was teaching her “in this season.” She often spoke to me about the precious blessings about the Lord walking with us and never leaving us.
What a great reminder. Here’s what she wrote one day.
He has promised never to leave me nor forsake me. It is my responsibility to walk with Him and give Him first place in all areas of my life. Colossians 2:6, 7 says, “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him: rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”
This is a choice I made as a young girl believing that Jesus is the perfect Son of God and was sent by His Father from Heaven to earth as the perfect sacrifice for my sin. According to 1 Corinthians 15:3,4 He died and rose again. First place in all areas-Christ’s preeminence (Colossians 1:16). He has promised never to leave me nor forsake me.
Here’s my takeaway.
You will notice that some of what Karen wrote was not full sentences. That’s because she was writing a couple of notes to herself. Here’s my takeaway from both living with Karen and seeing the reality of what she wrote. When troubles come and seasons change, I’ve seen some folks get mad, bitter, and resentful, and sadly, I’ve watched some walk away from the Lord. On the other hand, I’ve watched other folks respond very differently based on their walk with the Lord.
Are changing seasons easy? No.
Do changing seasons bring a certain amount of uncertainty? Yes.
Can we stop the seasons from changing? No.
With the Lord’s help as we walk with Him, can we respond in trust and worship? Yes.
Let me send you on your way with a smile.
I smile at this when I remember that Karen loved the changing seasons outside. However, she did not like to rearrange anything in her home. Whenever she would be out, I would move several things around and then time it to see how long it took for her to lovingly scream, “MICHAEL JEFFREY! YOU’VE DONE IT AGAIN!” It was worth it every time.
Your life season will experience some changes, probably even this week. Walk with the Lord. He will never forsake you.
