It would probably surprise you to know how much public speaking Karen actually did. To think of the young lady who forty-eight years ago dropped Dr. Woodrow Kroll’s Public Speaking class at Practical Bible Training School so that she wouldn’t have to speak before her classmates. Karen excelled in Greek; but not in public speaking. I chuckle now to remember the day she told me at Practical, “I don’t need a public speaking class. You are the public speaker. Not me!”
All along Karen loved teaching boys and girls. Then slowly but surely Karen started receiving invitations to speak to ladies groups. Then the invitations started coming in for Karen to come as the keynote speaker for ladies retreats. She spoke extensively before the cancer struck. I still hear from ladies whose lives have been touched from her speaking ministry.
Not long ago I discovered in her Bible a great outline that she penned and had used it in several of her ladies retreats.. It focused her thoughts on the “Believer’s Spiritual Blessings” based on Ephesians 1:4-14. I’ll share the Scripture first and then her outline.
Ephesians 1:4-14 King James Version (KJV)
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory. King James Version (KJV) Public Domain
Karen wrote: Believer’s Spiritual Blessings: (1) Selection of the Father (v 4-6); (2) Sacrifice of the Son (v 7-12); the Seal of the Spirit (v 13-14).
Michael’s observation: There’s not much I can add. How awesome is our God and how great are His blessings! He knew us from eternity past. He redeemed us on the cross. We belong to Him forever. Nothing can separate us from Him!
