Karen loved ministering to ladies. She loved challenging ladies to be all that the Lord wanted them to be. She loved sharing on a one-to-one basis as well as in a ladies’ retreat format. I have come across one of Karen’s folders that contains seminar notes as well as thank you notes from ladies. Let me share just a little of the thank you note that Karen received from one of the ladies from a multi-church ladies’ retreat.

The verse of which Karen writes is found in Job 23:10 which reads, “But he knows the way that I take: when He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.”

Karen wrote: “God and I work on character together even when I may not be aware of it. It’s what motivates and drives us. For some, it means going through the Refiner’s fire.”

Part of a thank you note Karen received after this retreat: You gave us all much encouragement. It definitely was a blessing to be part of this retreat with you. I had a long heart-to-heart talk with my husband last night. It was the first time that we could both say what we felt. Suddenly he opened up and I could honestly tell him how I felt. He actually listened to me and understood. He said it was because he had remembered Jeffrey (our little four year old child who went Home to be with the Lord after the last of a number of heart surgeries). Even though you weren’t here, you still caused a great change in my husband. Thank you!”

Michael’s observation: The reason I share Karen’s notes with you is not to bring glory to Karen. She would NOT appreciate that at all. It is to take her writing and share it in a way that will glorify the Lord and encourage God’s people.
