“Karen’s Notes!

Insights from a Glory-Bound Lady”

Selected Notes

Volume 2 Number 16 “That’s an Interesting Way of Putting It!”

April 17th, 2019

I am not sure where she used this. It could have been in a seminar in which she was teaching. Or perhaps it was a counseling situation for which she was preparing. Let me write out the verse Karen was using and then I will share with you what she wrote. It made me smile as well as it really made me think.

“For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith” (Romans 12:3).

Karen wrote: BEWARE of pride. Let God be the one to “toot” your horn and He will ultimately receive the glory.

Michael’s observation: I don’t know if she wrote this brief note as a result of this incident or not. However, I distinctly remember a situation in which a visitor came to the church I was pastoring. Karen and I were held hostage as this man went on and on and on about his achievements and accomplishments. Later that day Karen spoke privately to me (away from our many children!) and said something about those who toot their own horn never play a pleasant melody. I wonder if she used that situation as an illustration.
