“Karen’s Notes!
Insights from a Glory-Bound Lady”

Selected Notes Volume 3 Number 1
“Confidence and Contentment at the Start of the New Year”

January 1, 2020

Living with my Karen for nearly forty-six years was wonderful. Here’s something you might find interesting about her. She absolutely loved the changing seasons; however, she didn’t like to rearrange the furniture in our home! Changes outside were delightful. Changes inside, not so much!

Changes in life are inevitable. In one of her Bible study journals she wrote about learning how to be content when changes come about. At the start of this new year, I am sure that each of us will experience some significant changes this year. Let me share the verse she was studying and then her notes.

“Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you’” (Hebrews 13:5).

Karen wrote: He has promised never to leave me nor forsake me. It is my responsibility to walk with Him and give Him first place in all areas of my life. Colossians 2:6, 7 says, “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him: rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”

Michael’s observation: We laughed a lot together. I loved to tease her by moving a piece of furniture or something on the wall. As soon as she would walk in the door I would hear her call out, “Michael Jeffrey! You have been at it again, haven’t you?” We’d laugh about how it could be that someone who so loved the constantly changing seasons did not like changes inside. Maybe you don’t like the changes that have come into your life. The key to navigating through these difficult changes is living for Him as you walk with Him and learning to become content in Him. He will never leave you!
