“Karen’s Notes!
Insights from a Glory-Bound Lady”
Selected Notes Volume 3 Number 2
“Moving Forward!”

Nearly twenty years ago, Karen was invited to speak three times as a ladies’ conference in the Mohawk Valley Region of New York State. Her specific assigned topic was to encourage the ladies to pursue God’s purpose their lives. We talked a lot and prayed much as she was faced with the daunting task of speaking on such a topic in three brief forty-five minute sessions.
Needless to say, from her pages and pages of notes I’m lifting just a sentence or two today. Her second point was powerful and probing. Let me share some of the Scripture, then her second point and what she wrote.
“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God” (Ephesians 3:17-19).
Karen wrote: Where am I going in my Christian life? I am loved unconditionally. What a change has taken place in my life. Michael’s interrupted observation: Karen’s earlier conference notes were more of a manuscript with complete sentences. The more she spoke, however, the fewer notes she used in her later seminars. This is an example where she used just a few notes to keep herself on track. As she presented this material to the ladies, she wanted to challenge them to love the Lord every day as they celebrated how He was working in their lives. As you will see, she repeated her question and then reminded them of the little chorus about loving the Lord every day. Karen continued: So where am I going in my Christian life? The little chorus goes, “I love Him better every D-A-Y.” My daily walk with Him is crucial in this world.
Michael’s observation: I have such an advantage. You read her notes every Wednesday. (Wednesday is one of the busiest days on my website because so many make “Karen’s Notes” a part of their Wednesdays.) I have the advantage because I saw what she wrote being lived out in her life. I saw the desire she had to love Him more each day as she celebrated the changes He was making in her life. I’m challenged now as I travel on without her by my side. I truly do want to love the Lord more and more. How about you?
