We often chuckled about it. Family teased us about it. Friends laughed with us about it. Do you know of what I am writing? If you are new to “Karen’s Notes,” let me share the humor with you. Simply stated, it is that Karen was a person of few words. I am the one who has way too many words! Karen had the incredible way of getting to the point quickly and clearly. Sometimes I circle a little before landing the plane!
I discovered something interesting in one of Karen’s Bible study journals. She apparently paused at Isaiah 41:10 and thought a little about this amazing security of belonging to the Lord. Then she went on to Isaiah 43:1 and wrote a “short and sweet” note. Let me share the text, and then I’ll share with you what she wrote.
“But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and He that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called by thy name; thou art mine” (Isaiah 43:1).
Karen wrote: 1. It is POWERFUL “I have redeemed thee” (1a)
2. It is PERSONAL “I have called thee by name” (1b)
3. It is PRECIOUS “Thou art mine” (1c)
Because of these three, “FEAR NOT!”
Michael’s observation: Karen served the Lord all of her adult life. She often was on the phone with one of the ladies in our church. I had no idea at times with whom she was speaking nor did I know the situation. However! Often I would hear Karen quoting this verse to share the wonderful truth about our wonderful security in the Lord. I not only heard this from her, I saw it played out in the good times as well as the hard times of her life. Yes, that was Karen! Her writings are short and sweet. Are you glad for God’s powerful, personal, and precious reminders?
