“Karen’s Notes!
Insights from a Glory-Bound Lady”

Selected Notes
Volume 3 Number 45 “Stop and Do This On the Day Before Thanksgiving!”

November 25, 2020

I am not sure how you will celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday this year. But no doubt you are busy. Life surely looks different this year, doesn’t it? More are working from home. Some schools are totally remote, while others are trying to fulfill the best model of in-residence students. Many folks are not traveling long distances to be part of large gatherings this year. Regardless of your plans, I know that you are busy.

Sometimes in the busiest of moments it is extra important to stop, reflect, and remember what the Lord desires. Let me take you in Karen’s Bible study journal to a very brief thing that she wrote about the attitude of gratitude. She was in Psalm 95 that day in her devotions. I almost think she was thinking back on a recent message I preached, so this makes her notes even more special to me this Wednesday.

Karen wrote: The LORD (95:1) is a great God (95:3a) and a great King (95:3b). He is my Maker (95:6a) and my God (95:7). Therefore I am to come to Him with an attitude of gratitude.
I am to come with a joyful song. “O come, let us sing unto the LORD; Let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation” (Psalm 95:1).
I am to come with a thankful heart. “Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto Him with psalms” (Psalm 95:2).
I am to come with a bent knee. “O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker” (Psalm 95:6).
In everything I am to give thanks according to 1 Thessalonians 5:18.

Michael’s observation: When she wrote this in her journal, she was in good health. It would be a wonderfully busy day with our extremely large family and our many extended family members who were arriving at our home for Thanksgiving. She was one busy lady who was so excited and joyful. In spite of being busy, she stopped to think through Psalm 95. That’s very good for me to do as well this year. I’m not busy, but I’ll still be glad to eat Christina’s pies with my family as I come before the Lord with a joyful song, a thankful heart, and a bent knee!
