“Karen’s Notes!
Insights from a Glory-Bound Lady”

Selected Notes
Volume 3 Number 46 “The Busier You Are, the More You Need This!”

December 2, 2020

People in the United States seem to always be busy! We crowd so many things into our schedules that many folks are on a mad dash from the time they awaken until they collapse on their bed for sleep. Karen was a busy person. She was the mother to ten children born or adopted by us, foster mother to another fifteen who came to our home for various periods of time, pastor’s wife to the ladies and children of the churches I pastored, sought after ladies’ conference speaker, as well as being my faithful co-worker and sweetheart. Talk about busy! She was that indeed.

Yet, she was committed to daily investing time with the Lord. She viewed it as her “looking up” time. I was holding her Bible and reading some of the tiny notes she wrote in the margin. I stopped at Psalm 5.

“My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto Thee, and will look up” (Psalm 5:3)
.
Karen wrote: “And will look up” with expectancy! It is important to:
1. Establish a daily time with the Lord.
2. Spend time in His Word.
3. Pray for specific needs of others and self.
4. Listen. Be still before the Lord and praise Him.

Michael’s observation: I don’t mean to make Karen sound perfect. She wasn’t. No one is other than the Lord. Karen probably wouldn’t want me to list everything she was doing. Yet in spite of her busyness, she was committed to doing these four things daily, consistently, and intentionally. We need to have that same commitment. We all need that “Look up time” even though we might be busy.
