I surely miss her! As I’m writing this edition of “Karen’s Notes,” I have before me one of Karen’s Bibles and her Bible study journal with her own handwritten notes. She had been reading and doing a brief study through the book of James. She apparently stopped and thought quite a bit about how James 1:5 will genuinely be demonstrated. Let me share the verse with you and then the four things she wrote in her journal and underlined in her Bible.
“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that gives to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him” (James 1:15). The NKJV translates it, “IF any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given him.”
(Remember, she wrote this in her journal and if you know Karen, since she was writing for herself, she wrote very briefly and not necessarily in full sentences.)
Karen wrote: Get wisdom. Get understanding. Captured by Who God is! Desire to live for Him. How do I get this? Ask James 1:5.
Karen wrote and underlined these verses in her Bible. What will it look like?
1. My communication. “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath” (James 1:19).
2. My correction. “But be ye doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves” (James 1:22).
3. My conduct. “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom” (James 3:13).
4. My conviction. “Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand” (1 Peter 5:7a, 8).
The Rapture! Live for Christ daily!
Michael’s observation: Let’s be honest. No one is perfect and most certainly, only the Lord possesses all wisdom. But friends, we seem to be living in a day and age where even common sense is sadly lacking. Think of the impact the believer has as he or she asks the Lord for wisdom and lives for Him. The Lord has great opportunities awaiting you today!
