I cannot begin to tell you how many dear friends who are new to my website have expressed that they wished they had had the opportunity of knowing Karen before she went Home to be with the Lord. Others have expressed that after several years of reading her notes they feel like they have gotten to know her, a little bit anyway. Some of those who read her notes have known her for years and often tell me that they can picture her writing in her own typical very brief ways!
Talking about brevity, that’s “Karen’s Notes” for today. She apparently was considering the words of 1 Peter 4:15-16. Let me share these Scripture verses, and then I’ll share the brief notes she wrote to herself.
“But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters. Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf” (1 Peter 4:15-16).
Karen wrote: There will certainly be storms. Some are self-inflicted (4:15). These are sinful choices. Some storms come along that are not self-inflicted and I have no control over them. It is important that I am absolutely sure that He is the Lord of my life. In the storms that come into my life, I must remember that the LORD is good even in the hard days (Nahum 1:7).
Michael’s observation: Being very transparent, I can tell you honestly that some of the troubles I’ve experienced have been the direct result of my own poor choices. Can anyone else reading this identify with my statement or is it just me? Seriously, we all have made sinful choices and have experienced the consequences. Some of the trials of life, however, are not our own doing. I want to encourage you to take Karen’s advice to herself, “It is important that I am absolutely sure that He is the Lord of my life.” That means that He is in charge, and we are following Him. That’s what I need for today. Typical Karen! Brief but powerful is her reminder to each of us.
