Karen’s Notes!
“Insights from a Glory-Bound Lady”
Selected Notes
Volume 4 Number 38, “The Designer and the Blueprint”
September 22nd, 2021
I don’t know where she taught this conference seminar. I do know that the theme for the ladies’ retreat was “Handmade by Design.” Karen would speak several times at this conference. In one of the sessions, she spoke of how her husband (that caught my eye really quickly!) often would say that the words “easy to assemble” were not necessarily true. (I do remember saying that on a number of occasions.)
In keeping with theme, Karen spoke to the ladies about how the Lord has a design and purpose for each of us. The Lord is at work in ways that we might not always understand. Let me share the theme verse and then what Karen wrote.
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well” (Psalm 139:14).
Karen wrote: In keeping with the theme, if you wanted to bake a cake, you would follow the recipe. If you wanted to build a house, you would follow the blueprint. If you wanted to make a dress, you would follow the pattern. The directions must be followed if you want the finished product to turn out correctly. Sometimes directions can be confusing when assembling things. Steps might be missing, and sometimes parts are not included.
God is the Master Designer. Just as there is a purpose for a cake, or a house, or even a dress, God has a purpose for you. He made you! He has given you the blueprint, the Bible, for His directions for our lives.
Michael’s observation: I am so thankful that God not only has designed us in our own unique way, He has also given us His Word that directs us, and the assurance that He has a plan and purpose for us. Perhaps today you are going through a confusing time. Perhaps you are going through a time of deep trouble and trials. Quite the opposite of this, perhaps right now you are in a time of great joy and blessing. Regardless of your situation, rest in these facts.
I am not here by accident.
God has a plan and purpose for me.
His Word is my blueprint and provides direction for my life.
Nothing can replace those moments invested in His Word daily.
I must be a doer of the Word and not a hearer only (James 1:22).
