May I share with you today a post I shared over three years ago. If ever we needed this tiny, little, brief statement from Karen, it is today.
Whether written or spoken, Karen was a lady of few words. She loved her family and most certainly loved serving the Lord by teaching boys and girls and ministering to ladies. The Lord gifted her to be able to capture the attention of fifty boys and girls and to hold it as she taught the Word of God to them. She loved it. But she did not enjoy putting words on paper!
Many of her notes are really brief. As she became weaker as the illness progressed, her words became fewer and her written words even more brief than before. I’ve discovered something in her Bible that caused a tear and a big blessing at the same time. Let me share with you the verses that she underlined and the very brief words that she wrote.
“O LORD, Thou art my God; I will exalt Thee, I will praise Thy name; for Thou hast done wonderful things…” (Isaiah 25:1a). “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength” (Isaiah 26:3-4).
Karen wrote: Isaiah 26:3- Wonderful “Calm-plex”
Michael’s observation: The promise of the Lord keeping His people in perfect peace when our minds are stayed on Him is a tremendous blessing. That does NOT mean that we become people without feelings, without emotions, and without heartache. It does mean that the Lord gives a quieting, calming assurance that He is in control, can be trusted, and knows what He is doing. Keeping our hearts focused and fixed on Him results in great blessings indeed. She was right. It does give us a wonderful “calm-plex”!
