Volume 5 Number 26 “Oh How I Trust My Lord’s Help! – Part 3”
June 29th, 2022
For the past two weeks and today I am sharing the brief things Karen wrote as she read through Psalm 28 and lingered at 28:7. She was impressed, challenged and apparently blessed by the rich teaching of His people trusting in the Lord, His helping His people, and His people rejoicing and praising Him. There is no date on her few notes she wrote to herself. But I can tell you that in the happy events of her life as well as in the deepest, most painful events of her life, trusting in the Lord and relying upon His help was a quiet, consistent reality to her.
Let me share Psalm 28:7. Think about the richness and blessing of what King David shares with us.
“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoices and with my song will I praise Him.”
Karen wrote: Oh how the Lord God is such a wonderful help to us. I must trust Him. David had such confidence and victory in the battles he faced (1 Samuel 30:1-9). The Lord God is not only my source of help, He is also my source of rejoicing.
My rejoicing does not come because of my set of circumstances. My true source of rejoicing comes because of my relationship to Him.
Michael’s interruption: Karen circled the word “my.”
Karen wrote: Oh how God is the source of my rejoicing.
He is MY strength. “The LORD is my strength” (Psalm 28:7a).
He is MY shield. “…and my shield” (Psalm 28:7b).
He is My help. “My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped” (Psalm 28:7c).
God is the source of my rejoicing. “My heart greatly rejoices and with my song will I praise Him” (Psalm 28:7).
Michael’s observation: I don’t know about you. However, I can tell you that this is just what I need to do. I need to trust. I need and so love the Lord and His help. I find great cause for rejoicing as I experience the personal, living relationship and fellowship with the Lord. Thanks, King David. Thanks, Karen. Most of all, thank You, precious Lord.
