Every so often a new product will arrive on the scene with the company investing huge sums of money to convince us that the product is the latest and greatest, and we must purchase it. We cannot get along without it!
You’ve seen the commercials for the so-called latest and greatest. Friends, I am not against new products. Really, I’m not. But there is something that was very near and dear to Karen that is also near and dear to me. I am speaking of the will of God, His plan for our lives.
Karen wrote a note to herself. In her classic brief and right to the point way, she jotted three things down concerning the will of God. Truly, there is no improvement on God’s will. Come with me for just a moment and read what my dear Karen wrote to herself.
Karen wrote: Lord, teach me concerning my will and your will.
A. I can determine the will of God. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:1-2).
B. I can do the will of God. “Teach me to do Thy will; for Thou art my God” (Psalm 143:10).
C. I can delight in the will of God. “I delight to do Thy will, O my God: yea, Thy law is within my heart” (Psalm 40:8).
Michael’s observation: There is no date on this particular note written to herself. I found it in a journal with other writings dating back over a dozen years ago. I can’t think of anything more relevant or better today than to encourage you to think highly of the will of God. I can tell you that in the happy days of her life as well as the hard days of her life, consistently she lived out the desire to know and do the will of God. You and I can do the same!
