Volume 5 Number 52 “Closing the Books on 2022” December 28th 2022
It doesn’t seem possible to me that another year is closing out. The days, weeks, and months seem to have flown by to me. Recently I discovered something that Karen wrote in her Bible study journal concerning how to look back over the previous year.
Let me share a wonderful verse, and then I will share what she wrote to herself.
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
Karen wrote: How to close the books for this year. She wrote personal notes along with the four different categories. I won’t share these. But I really like her organizational mind and the four areas with which she came up.
Number One: Lessons I have learned this year. “Cease to do evil; learn to do well” (Isaiah 1:16-17).
Number Two: Mistakes I have made this year. “Have mercy upon me, O God, according to Thy lovingkindness: according to the multitude of Thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions” (Psalm 51:1).
Number Three: People that I have encouraged this year. “The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain. How many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well” (2 Timothy 1:16, 18).
Number Four: Goals I accomplished with the Lord’s help this year. “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receives the prize? So run, that ye may obtain” (1 Corinthians 9:24).
Michael’s observations: These areas were dear and important to Karen. They have blessed and encouraged me as well. Let’s make it our goal to close out 2022 in honesty and praise before the Lord. Let’s make it our goal to live for Him in 2023.
