#282 ”Use Your Wildest Imagination!”
September 20th, 2023
I may be too picky. But I never liked this phrase.
“God said it. I believe it. That settles it!”
Are you out of your mind, Michael? Everyone says it.
Not everyone! I don’t say it.
Well, what in the world is wrong with this statement that EVERYONE makes?
First of all, I doubt that EVERYONE says it!
Here is the statement that I much prefer.
“God said it. That settles it.”
Whether I believe what He says or not has nothing to do with it being settled. God said it. That settles it, and if I am wise and know what is best for me, I believe it and act upon it. But believe me, friend, God said it and that absolutely positively settles it.
Now that I’ve shared this with you, I want you to use your wildest imagination.
God said that He would wipe away our tears someday. Listen to this. “And I heard a loud voice from Heaven saying, behold the tabernacle of God is with me, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away” (Revelation 21:3-4).
It is settled. God has spoken it. But just for a moment, close your eyes and imagine how this will take place, and then in your wildest imagination, picture living forever in eternity with the Lord and never being sad again, never crying again, no more tears.
Karen kept a card in her Bible.
I always seek to be careful what I share in Karen’s Notes. She wrote things to herself that I know she would not want me to share. But this is something that I know she wouldn’t mind me passing along to you. I found this a few months ago as I was reading from her Bible. It’s a small postcard published by Warner Press in 1988. I gave it to her following the death of our little boy, Jeffrey.
This was written by Glenna Olham.
“He Loves You”
You mean so much to me,
and I just wanted you to know
I love you…
And that Jesus loves you.
He understands
And is ever interceding…
Caring for your every need
And some day…
Some wonderful day,
He shall wipe away our tears.
Alleluia! Amen!
Let me send you on your way with this.
Won’t that indeed simply be a miraculous and marvelous day! Come back one more time with me to the Book of the Revelation, John wrote, “Behold the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away” (Revelation 21:3-4). Friends, life is hard. But eternity is coming. For those who know the Lord, what a grand day it will be when tears will be gone.
Oh, and by the way, one more suggestion.
The next time someone at church says, “God said. I believe it. That settles it,” please don’t jump up and correct him or her. Be gentle!
