#28 “Discovering Joy on the Most Difficult Day”

Let’s head back over twenty years.
Sometime in 2002 Karen was speaking at a ladies’ event on the topic of trusting the Lord in every situation and season of life. When we truly walk with the Lord and trust Him, we discover the wonderful blessing of knowing that the Lord never will forsake us. He will never leave us. Let me share the Scripture passage she was going to present, and then I’ll share a few of the things directly from her notes.
“Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of His understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and shall not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:28-31).
She wrote in a probing way: Each season of life will have its own accomplishments, joys, challenges, disappointments and even struggles. BUT GOD IS THERE!
Maybe you are going through:
Difficult times in parenting
A hard time relating to school
Feeling unloved and unimportant to everyone
The loss of a family member or close friend
Times of financial hardship
A difficult marriage
She wrote in a personal way: I, too, have experienced some difficult situations in my personal life. With the raising of ten children and blending of four different family units, the death of a child, caring for my elderly mom, the ministry challenges we faced, and being on missionary deputation raising support as we held two mortgages, I want to share a bulletin with you! GOD WAS THERE!
Be encouraged as you go on your way today: What very special lessons await every believer who is going through difficult times! We have such a great need to trust the Lord and rely upon His power. The older I grow, the more I know for sure that the Lord never runs out of strength. He never gets overwhelmed. He never feels like giving up. GOD IS THERE.
