Volume 8 Number 19, “What in the World is the Lord Doing?”
Please remember that Karen felt very strongly about speaking publicly only to ladies. I have opened in her files a full set of notes that she used in a three-part workshops on the topic of watching the Lord work in our lives. This was specifically presented to ladies. In this retreat she was to speak on her assigned text which was Proverbs 31. But men, before you quickly decide that you are “out of here…this is just for ladies,” give it a few more seconds and think about these principles with me.
She was specifically asked to speak from Proverbs 31 about what in the world the Lord is doing in the life of His servants who are ladies. But these are great for us all.
Karen wrote: I will come to Proverbs 31 in a moment. But we must remember who we are and that the way we act comes from within. This has to do with Romans 12:1-2 and the transformation that God wants to take place in our minds.
Paul wrote, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
From within us, the Lord wants to produce several characteristics in our lives.
1. He wants to produce within us a person of integrity.
“The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her” (Proverbs 31:11). Honesty, being a person of integrity is just exactly what the Lord wants to do. Your husband and others must be able to trust in you. Think of the example of Joseph. The Bible says of Potiphar and Joseph, “And he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat” (Genesis 39:6). Paul reminds us that we must “Provide things honest in the sight of all men” (Romans 12:17).
Michael’s observation: I told you that it will be good for us guys as well. This matter of integrity is the first thing that Karen shared. There’s much more in her notes, but this is good for today. Next week I will share with you the second point she shared. It’s good! It is my prayer that the Lord will help me to be an honest person, a man of integrity. How does this encourage and challenge you?
