In just a few days, it will be the first of spring once again. Karen considered spring as her favorite season. It makes me smile to think of her out in her flower beds as she very gently poked around the soil to see if her annuals were starting to come to life. When they did, she was there to greet them!
Here’s something else for which Karen will be remembered. As I read through one of Karen’s Bible Study journals, I came across a little note that she wrote to herself. Some of what I have read in her journals is too personal, and I cannot share those with anyone. It will be mine to cherish. However, I know that my Karen would not mind me sharing some of her writings with you. What she wrote about how she’d like to be remembered is powerful and so encouraging.
Karen wrote: I want to be remembered as
A blessed person who loved the Lord (1 John 4:19).
A faithful person who cherished my mate and family (Psalm 128).
A little person who served a great big God (Psalm 100:2).
A trusting person who endured hardships quietly (Philippians 3:10).
A forgiven person who rejoiced in her wonderful Savior (Ephesians 2:8-9).
Michael’s observation: This list contains just a few of the many things for which Karen is remembered! It is a challenge for us to live in such a way that the same things will be said of us. No one lives perfectly on this side of Heaven. Only the Lord Jesus lived a perfect life. However! These few things that Karen wrote were characteristics of the way she lived, and I know they are the very things the Lord wants to develop in our lives.

Hi, I am Michael Peck. Karen and I have served for thirty-one years as a pastor and wife in several precious churches in the state of New York.
